First Presbyterian Church will provide a free meal and bag of groceries to guests who drive by the church between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 10.

The church’s monthly “Welcome Table” community meal program plans to supply each guest with a meal consisting of a soup, chips, fruit, and brownies. In addition, a bag of groceries will be delivered to each car. [Read more…]

The church’s monthly Welcome Table community meal program plans to supply each guest with a hot meal consisting of taco soup, Fritos chips, fresh fruit, and brownies or cookies, a press release said.

First Presbyterian Church will provide a free meal and bag of groceries to food-insecure guests who stop by the church between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10.

The church’s monthly Welcome Table community meal program plans to supply each guest with a meal consisting of taco soup, Fritos, fruit, and brownies, a press release said. In addition, each family in a car will receive a bag containing foods for making a holiday dinner. [Read more…]

Hot Dogs with the Works indoor picnic at ORUUC Free Community Meal on Friday

Concern that it might be too hot outside for a picnic to mark the end of summer at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church Free Community Meal on Friday, August 25, didn’t deter the volunteers of their picnic idea.

“The group decided to just throw it indoors instead!” a press release said.

Everyone is invited for hot dogs, baked beans, cookies, and fruit, the press release said. ORUUC is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike (close to traffic light number 2) in Oak Ridge. Dine-in the Social Hall or take-out will be available from 5 to 6 p.m., the release said.

“Plans are already under way to celebrate our seventh birthday at the meal on September 29. The menu is still being planned but for certain will include birthday cake,” said volunteer Abbie Moore. “Over the years, our volunteers have prepared and served several thousand meals. We strive to serve nutritious, homemade meals to our guests. [Read more…]

The Stone Soup Ministry team at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church will continue serving a summer menu of lighter and cooler foods at the Friday, July 28, free community meal. Everyone is invited to attend. Dine-in or take-out will be available from 5 to 6 p.m.

ORUUC is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike (close to traffic light number 2.)

On the menu will be homemade pimiento cheese sandwiches, three bean salad, cookies, and fresh fruit, a press release said. An assortment of nonperishable family friendly groceries will be available for free to anyone in need. The Free Community Meal at ORUUC is held the last Friday of every month at the same time. Free Community Meal on Friday, April 28, at Oak Ridge church

On the final Friday of each month, the Stone Soup Ministry team at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, or ORUUC, invites its neighbors to a free community meal, a press release said.

You can join them on Friday, April 28. On the menu will be Mexican bean soup, turkey sandwiches, peach cobbler, and fresh fruit, the press release said. Dine-in or take-out will be available from 5 to 6 p.m. ORUUC is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike (close to traffic light number 2.)

“Bring your family, your neighbors, or just yourself,” coordinator Jinx Watson said. “It’s a great place to come to meet new people for fellowship and too, if you just don’t feel like cooking. Some non-perishable family friendly groceries will be available for free to anyone in need.” [Read more…]

Grace Covenant Church has community meal this evening

Grace Covenant Church of Oak Ridge will serve its regular third Thursday community meal on Thursday, December 17, from 5-6 p.m.

The menu includes Honey Baked ham, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, congealed salad, and dessert.

The meal is free, and all members of the community are welcome. Please park in the church’s upper parking lot at 320 Robertsville Road, and follow the sidewalk to the Social Hall on the lower level.

Disabled parking only is available in the lower parking lot.

Thanksgiving community meal being organized in Oak Ridge

A community meal is being organized on Thanksgiving (November 26) for those who are in need.

The meal will be held at the Robertsville Middle School Cafeteria from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thanksgiving. It will be served by a group called @1558neighbor, which is a group that has a mission to help and give a hand up to our neighbors in need, an announcement said.

“This meal will be a community meal, and with that being said, we will be counting on the Oak Ridge community to help volunteer whether by donating money, time, or food,” the announcement said. [Read more…]
