Clydia Ophelia Hendren, age 88, of Oak Ridge, died unexpectedly Friday, July 5, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Campbell County, one of eight children born to Aaron T. and Florence Bailey Nelson.

Mrs. Hendren retired from the U.S. Department of Energy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Julius Hendren, on Jan. 15, 2008, who was also a retiree of the Department of Energy.
