This year’s breakfast will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Gallo Loco.

Alumni from Clinton High School have proposed a better facility for current and future student athletes. They have plans for a 12,000-square-foot multi-sport complex that could be used as a practice facility for several sports and host volleyball matches and wrestling meets.
The facility would include a weight training area, and artificial surface practice field for football, band, cheerleaders, and dance teams. A second story would have office space for coaches and a film room, according to plans posted on the website CSHS Legacy.
WYSH Radio in Clinton reported that the Anderson County Board of Education has given officials at Clinton High School the go-ahead to start exploring the possibility of constructing the new multi-sport facility at no cost to taxpayers.
WYSH said the proposed project would also renovate the existing, but aging, football field house. A second and separate part of the proposed project would also renovate the Don Lockard Gymnasium. [Read more…]
The Oak Ridge High School Wildcats cheerleaders are having a fundraising pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s in Oak Ridge.
The pancake breakfast will have the cheerleaders and their mascot raise money for end-of-year expenses.
Applebee’s is at 1213 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

The Hospitality Houses provide a home away from home for cancer patients and families who must travel for extended medical care at Methodist Medical Center.
“But just because some guests can’t be home during the holiday season doesn’t mean they have to miss the festive feel of garland-draped porches and trees glittering with lights,” a press release said. “Thanks to the Oak Ridge High School cheerleaders, the Hospitality Houses at Methodist Medical Center will be a welcoming Christmas site for all the guests who stay there.” [Read more…]

Community invited to pre-camp performance this Friday
Traditional cheerleading began at the University of Minnesota in 1898, when male cheerleaders encouraged students to show their spirit at athletic events.
This model continued exclusively until the early 1990s, when all-star competitive gyms formed to highlight the athleticism of the cheerleader. Combining tumbling, stunting, and dancing, non-school teams began competing at the regional and national level, drawing more and more girls to the fast growing sport.
At Oak Ridge High School, cheerleaders were maintaining the traditional role, but found they were losing students to the competitive nature of the all-star gym. [Read more…]

The Hospitality Houses provide a home away from home for cancer patients and families receiving extended medical care at Methodist Medical Center.
