Friends of Oak Ridge Library have Fall Book Sale this week

Friends of the Oak Ridge Library, or FOL, will have its Fall 2016 Book Sale October 27 through 30 in the Oak Ridge Public Library Auditorium.

The sale will include fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, audiovisual materials, and other publications covering almost every subject, a press release said. Most titles are 50 cents or $1 each.

Titles withdrawn from the Library are half price Thursday through Saturday. Although most sale items are books, there are always a few non-book items.

Thursday evening from 5 to 7:30 p.m. is a preview sale for members, the press release said. Memberships will be available at the door ($5 per person and $10 per family). Scanning devices cannot be used during the preview sale on Thursday. The Silent Auction begins on Thursday evening and ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday. [Read more…]

Friends of Clinton Public Library has its annual book sale June 1-4.

Here is a schedule:

  • Wednesday, June 1—members only or join at the door for $5 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 2—open to all from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 3—10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 4—10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Coffey Library at Roane State Community College’s Oak Ridge campus will host its annual “Love Your Library” book sale Tuesday, March 1, and Wednesday, March 2. The sales are scheduled from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.

The sale will include fiction, non-fiction, hardback books, paperbacks, textbooks, cookbooks, computer software books, children’s books, craft books, and more. Only cash and checks will be accepted. Checks need to be payable to the Roane State Foundation. Prices range from $1-3.

The Friends of the Oak Ridge Public Library has its winter 2015 Book Sale from Thursday evening, January 15, through Sunday, January 18.

The book sale will be held in the Oak Ridge Public Library Auditorium at 1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

The Roane State Community College Library will host a used book sale on Aug. 20-22 at the Roane County campus in Harriman.

The library is selling fiction books that have been withdrawn from the collection. Proceeds will be used to purchase new fiction. To buy books, visit the library on the Roane County campus Aug. 20-22 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Visitors will find great books for $1, a press release said.

Fireworks rescheduled, but Norris Day activities continue as weather allows

The threat of steady, soaking rainfall Wednesday through Friday has forced Norris to postpone its annual fireworks display until Friday, July 26, but all other Norris Day activities on the Norris Commons sponsored by the Lions Club will go on as planned starting at 8 a.m. today (July 4).

In a press release, the Norris Lions Club said it will conduct its annual Norris Day activities as weather allows today at Norris Commons. Scheduled indoor activities include the traditional barbecue lunch in the Norris Middle School Cafeteria, the Quilt Show in the Norris Fellowship Church, and the Library’s annual book sale in the McNeeley Building. Roane State Community College’s Oak Ridge campus will host the 13th annual “Love Your Library” used book sale Feb. 19-20 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Available items will include paperbacks, textbooks, cookbooks, children’s books and more. Items will be on sale in the atrium in front of the library. Prices will range from $1.50 to $3.
