Obituary: Patricia Brown Mason

Patricia Brown Mason, age 71, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, March 14, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Patsy was born Nov. 23, 1942, in the Donovan Community in Anderson County. At an early age, she and her family moved to Harriman, where she grew up. She moved back to the Oliver Springs area in 1969.

She was employed as a medical records clerk at Ridgeview in Oak Ridge for over 20 years. She retired in 2005.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of Beech Park Baptist Church. Patsy loved her family and she enjoyed baking and cooking for them. Additionally, she enjoyed raising flowers and watching her grandchildren in sporting events.  [Read more…]

Services will be Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with burial following in the Bethel Cemetery.

Wanda Lee Duncan, age 70, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, March 10, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Duncan was born May 25, 1943, in the Wheat community of Roane County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Wanda was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of family. Additionally, she enjoyed raising flowers.

Patsy Marie Miracle Millenbruch

Patsy Marie Miracle Millenbruch of Oak Ridge died on Wednesday, March 5.

Pat was born on Feb. 19, 1935, to Marian Agnes “Mary Anne” Justice Miracle and Clarence “Mike” Miracle in Pineville, Ky.

She spent her early years in Pineville. In December 1942, the family moved to Norris when her father, a civil engineer, was assigned to a team laying out what would be the city of Oak Ridge. Her mother was a teacher in the Oak Ridge school system when it opened in the fall of 1943.

Although the family remained in Norris throughout World War II, they moved into Oak Ridge shortly after the war ended, when housing became available. As her family was involved in Oak Ridge from its inception, Pat considered herself a native of Oak Ridge.

Pat graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1952 and attended briefly both Transylvania College in Kentucky and University of a Tennessee in Knoxville before marrying in 1954. [Read more…]

Steve L. Massengill

Steve L. Massengill, age 71, a resident of Clinton, passed away Saturday, March 8, at his home.

Mr. Massengill was born on April 29, 1942, in Caryville. Before moving back to Tennessee in 2004, he and his family lived in Danville, Va., for 20 years.

Steve was very patriotic and he served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war. He was a faithful Christian and a member of the Kellytown Baptist Church.

He retired in 2004, from Shoney’s, Inc., following several years of service. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, lawn work, gardening, and University of Tennessee football. [Read more…]

Laura Faye Strange

On March 6, Laura Faye Strange departed this life at her home in Dandridge. She was born May 12, 1948, in Knoxville to the late Fate and Reva Hucklebee.

Laura grew up in Knoxville and attended Rule High School. She was a loving, friendly woman who never met a stranger. She spent her life caring for her family and friends and often worked as a personal care giver. She owned a housecleaning business for many years and with her former husband operated Volunteer Motors on Chapman Highway for more than 20 years.

Laura enjoyed watching sports, especially University of Tennessee football, and spending time with family. Laura was a breast cancer survivor and proudly wore pink in celebration. [Read more…]

William Paul “Bill” Teichert

William Paul “Bill” Teichert Sr., born Nov. 24, 1928, in Pennington Gap, Va., passed away March 6 surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Barbara Ann , and an infant daughter Bethany.

He is survived by a son, Paul Teichert of Clinton; daughter Teri Teichert; grandson Brandon Knight; and two great-grandsons Cameron and Gabriel Knight, all of Knoxville.

Bill was a long time resident of the Oak Ridge and Claxton area. His passion in life was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had a great love for his country, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later in the Naval reserves. [Read more…]

Mrs. Cooper was born Sept. 19, 1951, in the Stephens Community in Morgan County.

Before her disability she was employed as a seamstress in the textile business at both Kellwood and Red Cap Industries.

Joy R. Jackson, age 72, of Coalfield passed away Wednesday, March 5, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.

She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and cooking family dinners for her children. She loved her daily visits from her grandson, Noah. She was once told that she was appropriately named “Joy” because she brought so much joy to the lives of everyone she met!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva Louise Roberts; husband, Cecil Jackson; sons, David Powell and Cecil Jackson Jr.; great-granddaughter, Charli Beth; and brothers, Tom and Bill Roberts. [Read more…]
