Frances "Millie" Marlino

Frances “Millie” Marlino

Frances Mildred “Millie” Marlino, 87, died peacefully on August 12 with her family by her side at Parkwest Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born in Trenton, Kentucky on December 11, 1926, to Roy and Fannie Murrey, she moved to Oak Ridge in 1947. There, she met her husband of 63 years and raised their five children. As their children grew, she went back to school and completed an associate’s degree at Roane State Community College, then worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory until her retirement.

Millie loved to travel, and passed that love to her children. Always ready for an adventure, she took every opportunity to explore new places, and especially treasured her trips to Paris, Italy, and the seashore. She loved the American Southwest, and lived for a few years in New Mexico and Texas, where she enjoyed learning about Native American culture and exploring the parks and monuments. Millie also took great pleasure in cooking and entertaining, reading and learning, celebrations of all types, and getting together with her large family. In her later years, she found tranquility in the quiet enjoyment of her garden. [Read more…]
