Helen Jean Beets, age 83, of Knoxville, passed away early Thursday morning, March 28, at Tennova Hospital in Knoxville.
Jean was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, but had recently been attending Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.

Terry L. Ridenour, age 74 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 27.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Geneva Ridenour, and his brother Glenn Ridenour.

Janie L. Brown, age 70, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday March 23, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Janie was a member of Gayland Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville. She enjoyed playing piano, organ, dominoes, cards, and working crossword puzzles. She always cared more for her family than herself.

Reba W. Dillon, age 77, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, March 25, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Dillon was born Dec. 4, 1935, in the Fork Mountain Community of Anderson County. She has continued to live in Oliver Springs following a move here during her early years.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Kellytown Baptist Church. Reba was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her hobby was quilting, and she generously provided quilts for family and others.

Christine Julie Griffis, age 82, a resident of Harriman, passed away Sunday, March 24, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Griffis was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Burrville, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Before her retirement, she was employed as a housekeeper at Alexander Motor Inn in Oak Ridge. [Read more…]

Claude Mansfield Benge, age 80, of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, March 23, at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Morley, Tenn., the son of Charles L. and Vista Adkins Benge.
Mr. Benge was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he was a mechanical instrument maker.
Mr. Benge was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of God and attended the First Church of the Nazarene. He was an accomplished guitarist and an avid fisherman. He and his wife of 58 years, Lola Weaver Benge, enjoyed spending time on the road in their R.V. and traveled all across the country. [Read more…]

Minter M. “Buck” Stout, age 77, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, March 20, at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born March 11, 1936, in Doddridge County, W.Va., the son of Ross Brown Stout and Geraldine Barnes Stout.
Mr. Stout retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He retired from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, where he was a computer system analyst at the K-25 plant.
Mr. Stout was a longtime member of the United Church Chapel on the Hill, where he served as an usher for many years. In earlier years, he was a ham radio operator who went by the handle, WA4LZA. He was also an avid bowler and participated in that sport until his early senior years. [Read more…]

Barbara June Price, age 70, a resident of Coalfield, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 23, at Methodist Medical Center.
Mrs. Price was born April 7, 1942, in Oliver Springs. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
She served as the pastor of the Family Worship Center in the Stevens Community of Morgan County. Additionally, she served the church in various capacities since 1957. She loved the Lord, and shared her love of God with all that she met. She enjoyed mission work, the church and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Carl Seavers and Agnes Ada Liles Seavers, and by a brother, Paul Marshall Seavers. [Read more…]

On March 21, a beautiful Christian soul was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Sheila Montez Hudson of Oak Ridge, passed away on Thursday, March 21, at the age of 54. Sheila, who had fought a long, hard battle with cancer for over a year, passed away peacefully at home with family.
Sheila was born on May 2, 1958, in Oak Ridge to parents James E. Hudson, now deceased, and Bessie Penland Hudson. Shelia was a lifelong resident of the community.
An alumna of Oak Ridge High School and the University of Tennessee, Hudson received her B.S. in Business Administration and worked for the DOE and the Y-12 National Security Complex for many years. [Read more…]

Esther Leota Simes O’Bleness, age 102, of Oak Ridge, was born July 25, 1910, in Wheatland, Wyo., and passed away Tuesday, March 19, at Greenfield Assisted Living, where she had been a resident for many years.
She and her husband Oscar “O.E.” O’Bleness lived in many states before coming to Knoxville and then moved to Oak Ridge in the early 1950s. She and her husband eloped Aug. 6, 1928, in Pryor, Okla. They had been married 65 years at the time of his death.
Esther was a legend at Kimball’s Jewelry Store, which she managed for many years before her retirement. She was also a jewelry appraiser. Upon moving into Greenfield Assisted Living, she ran the gift shop for several years.
She and her husband were longtime active members of Trinity United Methodist Church and were involved in many of the church activities until it closed in 2008, at which time her membership was transferred to the First United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #390. [Read more…]
