Departed on May 17, 2015, and resided in Clinton, Tennessee

William “Bill” Talmage Young Jr., born September 7, 1941, in Leesville, Louisiana, died at 73 years of age on Sunday, May 17, 2015, in his sleep.

Bill graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1959. He went directly into the U.S. Navy, where he served during the Vietnam War. He met and married Linda L. Pahel Young in October of 1964.

Nancy J. Costello, age 80, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville.

She was born July 5, 1934, in Harrison City, Pennsylvania, and moved to Manassas, Virginia, in 1963. She moved to Oak Ridge in 2000.

She worked for Grand Union in Manassas for many years before retiring in 1981.

Charles Franklin “Climber” Vann, age 70, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 15, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

Climber was born March 6, 1945, in the Upper Camp on Windrock Mountain in Anderson County. He has lived in Oliver Springs since his early childhood.

He retired in 2006 from the Y-12 Federal Plant in Oak Ridge as a truck driver. Before his employment at Y-12, he worked in the construction business, and he was a member of the Local Teamsters # 519. [Read more…]

Kandi was preceded in death by her grandmother (on her mother’s side) Frances R. Dixon, and grandmother (father’s side) Annie Sue Steele and grandfather William Bud Steele.

Kandi was well known in the Oak Ridge area for her love of reading, animals, and random acts of kindness, and she always believed in “pay it forward” where she would go out of her way to help the needy or even give food to a homeless person. Christopher Sharp Koerner, age 20, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sycamore Twp, formerly of Oliver Springs, passed suddenly on Wednesday, March 25. Chris recently finished schooling through Scarlet Oaks Career School and was working as a heavy machinery mechanic.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Ethridge; grandfather, Frank Ethridge; grandparents, Charles and Jackie Ethridge; and his best friend in Ohio, Jordan Wood.

Maxie Belle Spence Livesay, 94, of Cary, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 13. Maxie passed away peacefully at WakeMed Cary Hospital with her three loving daughters by her side.

Born on October 2, 1920, in Spring Creek, West Virginia, Maxie was the daughter of the late James McClung Spence and Amanda Ellen Neathawk Spence. She was married to the late Hubert Bright Livesay for 54 years.

Maxie is lovingly remembered by her family: three daughters Joy Spinks, of Lilburn, Georgia, Judy Lusk, of Cary, North Carolina, and Donna Blackmer and husband Jack, also of Cary; eight grandchildren David Mitchell and wife Cindy, Dena Mitchell Barbour and husband Mark, Denise Mitchell Haynes and husband Mike, all of Georgia, Kevin Lusk and wife Miryam, Krista Lusk Guerriero and husband Eddie, and Kara Lusk Dudley and husband Bill, Tim Sydnor and wife Trina, all of North Carolina, and Susan Sydnor Ford and husband Tim, of Michigan; 25 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; brother James McClung Spence “Boon” and wife Edith, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and sister-in-law Edith Livesay Taylor and husband Tom, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.  [Read more…]
