Amateur photographer R.E. McLaren will be teaching a free photography workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday at the University of Tennessee Arboretum Visitor’s Center.
McLaren has been an amateur photographer for many years and has a special interest in wildlife and landscapes, according to a press release.

Herbert Daniel (Dan) Mobley, age 85, of Oak Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, in Oak Ridge.
Dan was the son of Robert Montgomery and Ina Mobley. He was born on March 7, 1927, in Greenville, Ga.
Margie Carter, age 82, of Clinton passed away on Tuesday, July 3, at her residence.
Margie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and fishing. Margie was a giver and always willing to care for the sick.
The U. S. Department of Energy’s warning sirens in Oak Ridge will not be tested this Wednesday due to the July 4 holiday.
The sirens are typically tested between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month. They are intended to give immediate notification of an emergency to people who are within about two miles of DOE’s Oak Ridge Reservation.

Juanita Glenn Hamer, age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, June 29, at the Methodist Medical Center.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., and was raised by her grandmother, Stella Polk, who precedes her in death.

Mary Lucille Henry Brantley, age 69, of Oak Ridge passed away Sunday, July 1, at her home.
Mary was born January 13, 1943, in Cumberland County to the late Louis and Tena Hawn Henry.
Dave Clark
A new law that allows law enforcement to require a driver suspected of drunk or impaired driving to give a blood sample is being enforced in Anderson County from Tuesday, July 3 through Sunday, July 8, District Attorney General Dave Clark announced Monday.
Clark said it is Tennessee’s first operation to implement the new law and will involve saturation patrols, roadblocks and other special law enforcement actions.
Charles E. Jenkins
Charles “Charlie” Eugene Jenkins, age 84, a resident of Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge and Crossville, died Friday, June 29, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was born March 4, 1928, in Lebanon, the son of Wentie Seaton Jenkins and Buna Vista Kemp Jenkins.
Louise Marie Ritter, “Mike,” age 82, died on June 29 in Oak Ridge following an extended period of health challenges.
She was born in Harrisburg, Pa., on August 25, 1929, to Esther Koons Mixell and Grant Harrison Mixell.
Mildred “Gurene” Monday
Mildred “Gurene” Monday, age 75, of Oak Ridge, departed this life Monday, June 25, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Mrs. Monday was co-owner of Elza Gate Body Shop with her husband, Gary. Gurene was the smile behind the desk for so many years.
Norris Roosevelt Hawkins, age 79, of Lake City passed away Tuesday, June 26, at the Tennova Inpatient Hospice after battling with Alzheimer’s for the past several years.
Norris was born on May 18, 1933, where Norris Dam currently sits. His parents were David Hawkins and Nancy Ann Heatherly. He was the oldest of 12 children.
