Thomas Douglas McNair, age 67, of Oliver Springs, passed away, Tuesday, March 19, at Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. McNair was born on April 22, 1945, in Chattanooga. He was a self-employed carpenter.

Dorothy Bearden Walker
Dorothy (Dot) Bearden Walker, 93, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, March 19, at NHC of Oak Ridge, where she had been a resident since December 2008.
She was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.
Born in Nashville, daughter of W.C. and Gladys Bearden, she moved to Oak Ridge with her first husband, William Knoch, and children in 1949. She began working at the former Hamilton National Bank at the Grove Center facility in 1952 and retired after 28 years in 1980. She married Jack Walker in 1978.

Oveline Borum Galbraith
Oveline Borum Galbraith, age 94, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away, Tuesday, March 19, at N.H.C. of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Galbraith was born July 12, 1918, in Roane County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking and caring for them. She was employed at the Roane Hosiery Mill for 25 years before her retirement.
Mrs. Galbraith was preceded in death by her husbands, Denton Borum and Claude Galbraith; by a daughter, Pauline “Polly” Barnett; by a grandson, Terry Barnett; by parents, Roscoe and Minnie Coker Reynolds; by brothers, Tolly, Bill, Floyd, Earl, and Joe Reynolds; and by sisters, Lucille Cox, Erma Lee Cromwell, Ada Edwards, and Nadine Jewett. Annie Gordon
On March 15, Annie Gordon, lifelong resident of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully in Evergreen, Colo. She had just celebrated her 82nd birthday on March 5.
She is survived by her son, Jim Gordon; his wife, Elizabeth; and their four children Christi, Abi, Ali, and Willie.
Annie lived in the mountain community of Evergreen at Elk Run Assisted Living, where she enjoyed seeing lots of elk and wildlife, snowy winters, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. [Read more…]
Paul Abraham Agron
Paul Abraham Agron passed away on March 19 at Methodist Medical Center. He was 98 years old.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years—Eleanor—just one year ago.
Born in New York in 1915 to Russian Jewish immigrants Jacob and Frieda Agronovich (later Agronow), Paul was brought up in Brooklyn and Queens along with his five younger siblings, two sisters, and three brothers. His parents spoke Yiddish at home, and Paul (“Abe”) learned to speak English by playing stickball in the street with the neighborhood children.
He later earned his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in chemistry from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. [Read more…]
Parkinson’s Walk 2012

On Saturday, April 13, the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group of East Tennessee, PK Hope Is Alive, will host its second annual walk at at A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge. The local walk will be in conjunction with the 19th annual Parkinson’s Unity Walk in New York City.
Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the walk, which will help raise funds for Parkinson’s Disease research, will take place between 10 a.m. and noon. Last year, PK Hope Is Alive raised more than $17,000 and was the No. 8 fundraising organization in the country. [Read more…]
Norman A. Teasley, Sr.
Norman A. Teasley Sr., 95, a longtime resident of Oak Ridge, passed away on March 18.
He was born Sept. 22, 1917, to parents George Glenn and Bessie Teasley in Anderson, S.C., where he later met and married Lucille Fountain on Aug. 15, 1937.
After the death of his wife Lucille in 1995, Norman and Jane Gurney were married in 1997.
Following his service with the naval shipyards in Norfolk, Va., Norman, Lucille and their two sons, Norman Jr. and Glenn, moved to Oak Ridge in 1945. Until his retirement in 1976, Norman worked for Union Carbide at K-25, and during this time, he developed many specialized spectrometer parts used in analyses to support the war efforts at that time. George “Bill” Perry
George “Bill” Perry, age 83, of Lake City, passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday, March 16.
He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loved his family dearly. Bill was a gentleman and was a friend to all. He enjoyed collecting all types of music and videos. Bill was of the Baptist faith.

Mary Hensley Collett
Mary Hensley Collett, age 74, a resident of the Frost Bottom Community in Anderson County, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 16, at the Windwood Health Care Center in Clinton.
Mary was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mrs. Collett was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful Christian, a member of the New Mountain View Baptist Church, and a former member of the Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. She was involved in several church activities, usually including the youth and music.
Mary was an accomplished musician, and she enjoyed playing the organ, piano, and accordion. She and her sisters, “The Hensley Family,” sang at area churches for five decades. She also taught music, giving piano lessons to area youth for many years. [Read more…]
Thomas William MacMurdo
Thomas William MacMurdo, age 73, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, March 15, at Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. MacMurdo was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Ellwood City, Pa. He lived in Palmetto, Fla., for 30 years before moving to Oak Ridge in 2008.
Thomas retired in 2005 as a professional truck driver from Commercial Carrier Corporation. He previously owned and operated J&T Trucking.
His hobbies included golfing, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. [Read more…]

Thane Harrison Sadowski, infant son of Nathan and Emily Gott Sadowski, was born Sunday, March 10, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and passed away Monday, March 11, at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville.
Thane is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Daniel Sadowski.
In addition to his parents, Thane is survived by his half-sister Sierra Sadowski, grandparents Gloria Sadowski and Nancy and Edgar Gott, and several aunts, uncles, and loving family friends. [Read more…]
