Oak Ridge Today is an independent, locally owned website that covers news and events in and around Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We publish regularly throughout the week.
Oak Ridge Today launched March 29, 2012, and it is owned by John Huotari. John is a local reporter and writer who previously worked at three East Tennessee newspapers: The (University of Tennessee) Daily Beacon, Knoxville News Sentinel, and The Oak Ridger. John has been reporting in Oak Ridge and East Tennessee for more than a decade, since June 2004.
Oak Ridge Today generally has between 30,000 and 75,000 unique visitors per month. It has become the top source of local news for many readers.
We primarily focus on major news stories in Oak Ridge and Anderson County. The types of stories we cover include news about the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge and Anderson County governments, Oak Ridge Schools, major police and fire incidents, state and federal courts, businesses, high school sports, significant weather events, and large community events and festivals.
We also run feature stories that we think are unique and of widespread community interest, and we try to practice public accountability journalism.
