Anderson County clerk candidate Leesa Arowood has named her campaign treasurer and announced a $250 donation to the Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund in South Florida to show support for students and families affected by the mass shooting in February.
Arowood, a Republican who is challenging Jeff Cole, the incumbent, has named her son Chad to serve as treasurer for her campaign for Anderson County clerk, a press release said.
“Chad is working hard and doing a great job in supporting our campaign for Anderson County Clerk,†Leesa Arowood said in the press release. “I’m very proud of him and appreciate his help to win this important election.â€
Her son is pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Tennessee Tech University after earning his associates degree at Roane State Community College, the press release said. He also works at Appalachian Underwriters in human resources and maintains a property and casualty insurance license and an affiliate real estate broker license.
“My mom has the right attitude to do this job,†Chad in the press release. “She’ll supervise her staff and serve the public with a smile on her face and will always have a positive outlook. Mom is a servant leader we all can be proud of.â€
The press release said Arowood is running an aggressive grass roots campaign knocking on doors throughout Anderson County. As a businesswoman, not a career politician, her campaign theme is “Leesa is Right for Anderson County†with the right experience, values and attitude for the job of county clerk, the release said.
The Anderson County Republican Party primary is May 1, and early voting began April 11 and ends April 26.
The $250 donation to the Victims’ Fund in Florida was announced in February. It will be received by the Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 direct support organization solely dedicated to raising funds for Broward County Public Schools and recommended by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department, a press release said.
“As a mom, this tragedy hits home with me,†Arowood said. “Regardless of the political implications of what happened in this school, kids were killed, and families have been impacted forever. I am making this donation to the Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund to help raise awareness here in Anderson County of how we can do something to support these folks. I encourage others to do the same.â€
The Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund is dedicated to providing relief and financial support to the victims and families of this horrific shooting. More information about the organization and how to make a donation can be found at gofundme.com/stonemandouglasvictimsfund.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
