Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank is running for re-election in the Republican Party primary election on May 1.
“I can say without a doubt that I believe my job is serving people, and I am enormously thankful for the opportunity I have had to work for the people of Anderson County,” Frank said in a press release. “During the coming weeks of the campaign, I look forward to sharing the positive progress we’ve made and the accomplishments we’ve celebrated.”
In the press release, Frank said she has been focused on education, youth development, jobs, and economic opportunity, but has also devoted much time and energy to veterans, senior adults, and animal welfare issues, as well as the issues surrounding opiate addiction. Calling herself solution-minded, Frank said she maintains a commitment to fiscal restraint and business-minded leadership on behalf of Anderson County taxpayers.
Frank currently serves as chairman of District 2 Homeland Security Council; board member of East Tennessee Economic Development Agency (ETEDA); vice chairman of the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization; board member of Y-12 Community Relations Council; member of the board of directors of Association of Tennessee Valley Governments; board member of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Advisory Board; chairman, Local Elected Officials Workforce and Innovation and Opportunity Act Board; board member of the East Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability; former chairman of the East Tennessee Development District (ETDD) and East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (ETHRA) policy councils; chairman of Anderson County Animal Welfare Task Force; Anderson County Economic Development Association (ACEDA); and many other boards and committees, according to the press release.
Frank attended both the University of the South at Sewanee and Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. Prior to her election in 2012, she and her husband Lee owned and operated Nature’s Marketplace in Oak Ridge for nearly 20 years, the press release said.
“A proud Anderson County native, Frank’s early years were growing up in Oliver Springs,” the release said. “She graduated from Anderson County High School and in college met husband Lee. Lee and Terry reside in Clinton and have three sons and one daughter-in-law: Atticus (26) and his wife Rachel, Davis (25), and youngest son Avery (18.) They attend Second Baptist in Clinton.”
There are two candidates running for mayor in the Anderson County Republican Party primary on May 1. The other candidate is Anderson County Commissioner Steve Emert, a former commission chair. There are no Democratic Party candidates, so the May 1 Anderson County Republican Party primary election will decide who is mayor three months before the August 2 county general election.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
