A Clinton man is accused of breaking into a car wash, stealing $2,000 worth of coins, and exchanging about half the coins for cash at a coin machine, according to court records.
Joshua Steven Brinyark, 30, was seen on a surveillance video breaking a door window and entering an inner office to steal the coins at Pop’s Car Wash on North Charles G. Seivers Boulevard in Clinton at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, according to affidavits filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Clinton.
Brinyark then called a second man, Joshua Allen Bryant, at 7:34 a.m. and asked Bryant to pick him up at a Git’ N Go Market that is also on North Charles G. Seivers Boulevard, according to the affidavits. Brinyark said he would give Bryant money for the ride, the affidavits said.
“Bryant picked up Brinyark and took him off another road in Clinton near some railroad tracks, where he got out of the vehicle and picked up two buckets filled with coins,” the affidavits said. “Brinyark then asked Bryant to take him to Walmart to cash the coins, and he’d give him money.”
Bryant drove Brinyark to Walmart in Clinton and waited in the car while Brinyark exchanged $1,061.53 in coins for cash, the affidavits said.
“Brinyark is seen on camera where he goes to the coin machine and exchanges $1,061.53 in coins for cash using proceeds derived directly from the burglary to conduct a financial transaction with the intent to conceal or disguise the nature, location, source, ownership, or control of the criminally derived proceeds,” the affidavits said. “Brinyark also uses the bucket which was stolen from Pop’s Car Wash for the stolen coins and leaves the bucket in the Walmart shopping cart inside the store. Brinyark then walks to Bryant’s vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, gets in the passenger side, and leaves the parking lot.”

While stealing the coins at Pop’s Car Wash, Brinyark damaged several machines, an exterior door, and the interior door, causing more than $1,000 in damages, according to the affidavits.
Brinyark has been charged with property theft, money laundering, burglary, and vandalism.
He was arrested Monday, and he remained jailed in the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton on Tuesday morning. His bond has been set at $75,000.
Brinyark has a court hearing for the alleged car wash theft scheduled for 1 p.m. December 13.
Bryant, also of Clinton, was charged with property theft and accessory after the fact. His bond was set at $10,000, and he has been released from the Anderson County jail.
The affidavits were filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Clinton by Clinton Police Department Detective Sergeant Danielle Alexander.
