“Superman moments…” that’s what filmmaker Brett Culp calls those times when we’re inspired to overcome challenges or do something more for our neighbors. “Look to the Sky” tells the true and uplifting story of young people from around the country who are making a real difference and inspiring hope for us all.

A charity screening of this film will be the culmination of a fun, family friendly super hero day to be held Saturday, October 28, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Grove Theater in Oak Ridge. “Look to the Sky” will be shown in the Grove Theater beginning at 1:30 p.m., with all proceeds going to Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties, or ADFAC. ADFAC has a heroic 30-year history of serving under-resourced families in our community, bringing hope and light wherever they go.

Culp will be making an appearance and joining us for this community event. As stated on Culp’s website, “Culp is the personal cinematographer for Hollywood stars, music icons, hall of fame athletes, and royal families.”

Culp produced his uplifting documentary film “Legends of the Knight,” which began his amazing development into a community building filmmaker. “Legends of the Knight” was shown in April 2014 at the Grove as a fundraiser for ADFAC, where many walked away with the inspirational notion that “I Am Batman.”

Tickets for the moving showing are $5 and can be pre-purchased at http://thegrovetheater.org/looktosky or purchased at the door. Be sure to select “Look to the Sky” from the drop-down menu. Seating will be limited to the first 500 tickets sold. Pre-purchased tickets will be held with your name at given to you at the door when you arrive.

But this event is so much more! Kids 12 and under—come early for a free Superhero Party and a chance to save our city in real time as we hunt clues that will help us find our missing mayor, Warren Gooch! Oak Ridge Police Department’s Detective Unit will be on hand to help you out too. Dress up as your favorite superhero if you want! Costume contest, games, bounce house, trick or treating, crafts, activities, and more will get us in the superhero spirit as we prepare for this great film!

The party starts at 11 a.m.with free pizza for the kids at noon. Then at 1:30, we will watch the documentary with an optional cartoon playing in a smaller theater for smaller children who need that option. Seating is limited to 500.
