Emergency Preparedness Fair in Clinton on Saturday

There is a free Anderson County Emergency Preparedness Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton Community Center.

The fair brings together government and civic organizations, emergency management staff, and volunteers from Anderson County to give people, businesses, and communities an opportunity to better prepare for disaster.

There will be booths and classes that discuss disaster management, emergency communication plans, and food and water storage.

“An event of this type allows people to become more educated and self-reliant,” Clinton Mayor Scott Burton said. “This, in turn, eases potential burdens on government if individuals and families learn to help themselves during a widespread emergency.”

Participating organizations and vendors include Oak Ridge National Laboratory, B&W Y-12, U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge Operations, Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, Anderson County Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, SAIC, Oak Ridge Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Shelf Reliance, Lodge Dutch Oven Outlet, ARK Ready, GoFoods, and many others.

The fair is hosted by the City of Clinton and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sponsored by UCOR.
