The new T.J.Maxx store is open in Oak Ridge.
The new store opened Sunday, August 6, at Main Street Oak Ridge, the 58-acre project to redevelop the former Oak Ridge Mall.
T.J.Maxx is one of the nation’s leading off-price retailers with more than 1,000 stores currently operating in 49 states and Puerto Rico, a press release said.
T.J.Maxx stores have something for the entire family, the press release said, from fashion and accessories to jewelry, home, beauty, pet products, kids, toys, and more.
“Our newest store in Oak Ridge will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend, and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices that T.J.Maxx is known for,” said Tim Miner, president of T.J.Maxx. “Our buyers search the globe to discover the best in every department, and we’re excited to bring those finds to a new neighborhood. With thousands of new items delivered to our stores every day, we know our shoppers will find something surprising and unexpected every time they shop.â€
The Oak Ridge store is 22,000 square feet. It’s at 367 South Illinois Avenue, next to the new Dick’s Sporting Goods and in the area where the Sears department store used to be between Walmart and the U.S. post office on South Tulane Avenue.
It’s the sixth new store to open at Main Street Oak Ridge since mid-June.
The other five stores that have also opened are rue21, maurices, Dick’s Sporting Goods, PetSmart, and Rack Room Shoes. The other two stores expected to open soon are Electronic Express and Ulta.
The T.J.Maxx store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. The store features an easy-to-shop layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms, and a single line queue for faster checkout, the press release said.
The new store was expected to add about 60 full- and part-time jobs to the area. T.J.Maxx planned to contribute to the community by presenting a $10,000 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee Inc. at the ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Sunday. The new store will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring Save the Children’s U.S. Programs, the press release said. T.J.Maxx, which opened its first store in 1977, also supports Save the Children, Autism Speaks, and Joslin Diabetes Center with annual in-store fundraising campaigns.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
