An Oak Ridge man arrested Saturday is accused of threatening a woman in a Seneca Road home by allegedly following her down a hallway with knives and then throwing them at her.

The victim said Wesley Sylvester Howard IV, 41, became upset when no one else would eat in the kitchen with the two of them, a court affidavit said. The records alleged Howard became depressed and then angry, and he began to shout loudly and curse.

The victim reportedly tried to calm him down. She grabbed Howard’s arm and put it behind his back, said the affidavit, filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Oak Ridge.

“This was believed to be the turning point,” the affidavit said.

Howard allegedly got some knives from the home’s kitchen and followed the victim down a hallway toward his father’s bedroom, the court records said.

“She began to bang on the father’s bedroom door and shout for help,” the affidavit said. The father told her to call the police.

“During this time, the defendant began throwing knives at (the victim),” the affidavit said.

The father came out of the bedroom and allegedly found Howard screaming and holding knives.

Howard has been charged with aggravated assault, and he remained jailed at the Anderson County Detention Facility on Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $25,000 bond. He has a court appearance scheduled at 9 a.m. Oct. 2.
