Geoffrey “Geoff” G. deBeauclair has been named deputy manager of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office/Integrated Support Center. The appointment was effective May 1, a press release said.
It’s one of DOE’s most diverse field locations, the press release said. As deputy manager, deBeauclair will help Oak Ridge Office Manager Ken Tarcza manage the Oak Ridge Integrated Support Center. That center provides critical mission support services locally and nationally in the areas of personnel, finance, budget, procurement, legal, security and emergency management, and employee health and safety, the press release said.
“He will also be responsible for advancing ORO’s responsibilities for management of the 32,000-acre Oak Ridge Reservation, which will include addressing cross-cutting issues and among major activities, including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, East Tennessee Technology Park, and Y-12,” the press release said.
“Geoff brings broad experience to the table in workforce management of government and contractor staff,” Tarcza said. “His vast leadership skills will strengthen the management team already in place at ORO, and I look forward to working with him.”
deBeauclair joined DOE after recently transitioning from a 30-year active duty Navy career as a nuclear submarine office. His assignments included commanding a ballistic missile submarine, multiple roles on the Navy staff in Washington, D.C., and serving as the executive staff director of the National Nuclear Security Administration, the release said.
In his most recent assignment, deBeauclair commanded the Newport Division of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, leading the Navy’s one-of-a-kind organization tasked with research, development, testing, evaluation, and engineering in support of the undersea enterprise, the press release said. deBeauclair was responsible for a $1 billion budget, and he led a workforce of more than 5,000 scientists and engineers, consisting of both government employees and contractors to provide cutting-edge technology to the fleet, the release said.
deBeauclair earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and his master’s degree in engineering management from The Catholic University of America.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
