Willard Harold Johnsey Sr.

Willard Harold Johnsey Sr., 90, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Methodist Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Jasper, Ala., the son of Walter and Vlantie Johnsey.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, Army Air Force Unit.

Mr. Johnsey retired from the A&P Tea Company, where he was manager of the meat department. He was a member of the New Life Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed gardening, and in younger days, he enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mae Drew Johnsey in 2011, and by brother, James L. Johnsey, and sister, Lillian Cameron.

He is survived by sons, W. Harold Johnsey Jr. and wife Connie of Knoxville, and Kent W. Johnsey of Clinton; daughter, Janice D. Ramsey and husband Jack of Oak Ridge; sister, Margaret Frye and husband Harold of Knoxville; three grandchildren, Randy Johnsey and wife Jennifer of Powell, Keith Ramsey and wife Kelly of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Jennifer George and husband Clay of Brunswick, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Johnsey, Jack Ramsey, and Laney George.

The family received friends on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 12–2 p.m. at the New Life Church of the Nazarene. The funeral began at 2 p.m. with Pastor Keith Robinson officiating. The burial followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
