Cleve Daugherty

Cleve Daugherty, 75, a resident of Coalfield, died Saturday, Sept. 15, at his home.

Mr. Daugherty was born Jan. 6, 1937, in New River. He had lived in Coalfield since 1953.

Cleve was employed as a coal miner and logger before his retirement. He was a member of the United Church of Compassion in Oliver Springs.

He was preceded in death by a son, Burl Cleve Daugherty; by a grandson, Justin Baker; by his parents, Burl Daugherty and Nancy Jane West Daugherty; by sisters, Ester West, Roxanne Smith, Dellie Tidwell, and Bernice Daugherty; and by brothers, Early Daugherty, Lesley Daugherty, and Wesley Daugherty.

Cleve is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cora Lee Parton Daugherty of Coalfield; by daughters, Nancy Daugherty and companion Steve Armes of Coalfield, and Mary Baker and husband Steve of Oak Ridge; by grandchildren, Valence Ooten and wife Stacie of Cleveland, Jody Ooten of Deer Lodge, Shannon Long and husband Steve of Chatsworth, Ga., Travis Baker of Knoxville, and Shane Baker of Oak Ridge; and by eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

The family received friends Monday, Sept. 17, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with pastor C.J. Franks officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 12 p.m. at the Adcock Cemetery in Coalfield.
