Rachel Lokitz
Rachel Lokitz, ORAU associate general counsel, has been elected corporate secretary by the ORAU Board of Directors. Lokitz will perform these duties in a dual capacity while still maintaining her position as associate general counsel.
In her new role, Lokitz will play an integral role in ORAU’s corporate governance and provide counsel to the board and ORAU senior leadership on board roles, responsibilities, and other governance requirements, a press release said. Primarily, Lokitz will guide the board in discharging their fiduciary responsibility to ensure the business follows its corporate rules and will be responsible for recording the board’s actions.
In her role as associate general counsel, which she has held since 2010, Lokitz provides ORAU’s programs and internal business clients with counsel concerning legal rights, contractual obligations, compliance, and risk. Lokitz also serves as primary contact for development of corporate policies.
“During Rachel’s time here at ORAU, we have come to depend on her legal advice and counsel in many areas of our business,” said Andy Page, ORAU president and chief executive officer. “Adding the corporate secretary responsibility is a logical extension of her role and recognizes her valued service to ORAU. We look forward to adding her expertise as a resource to both ORAU’s board and senior management.”
Lokitz graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, and she attended the University of Tennessee College of Law where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude.
Prior to joining ORAU, Lokitz served as a student attorney for the University of Tennessee College of Law’s business clinic, where she provided corporate legal assistance to small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Lokitz participates in a variety of professional activities including serving on the board of directors for CONTACT Care Line and as ORAU executive liaison to the United Way of Anderson County, the press release said. She is a member of the DOE Contractor Attorneys’ Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, and she earned a master’s certificate in government contracting from the George Washington School of Business.
Lokitz replaces Monnie Champion, who served as ORAU board secretary from 1995 until her retirement in March 2016.
