Walter Goodman, age 80, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, at Cumberland Village Care in LaFollette.
Walter was a good man who loved everyone.
He was a proud iron worker and was a member of the Ironworkers Local 384 in Knoxville. Walter also worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was a proud member of the Sheriff’s Association.
He was known for being a good landlord for his rental properties in the area. Walter was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosa Mae Goodman, and son, Wayne Goodman.
Walter is survived by a loving and dedicated wife of 61 years, Viola Goodman of Lake City; son, Joe Mack Goodman and wife Gloria Faye of Knoxville; daughters, Linda Annette Griffin and husband Donald of Lake City, Mary Elizabeth Butterworth and partner Don Liles of Lake City, and Brenda Sue Hensley and husband Kenneth of LaFollette; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends
Walter’s family received friends on Sunday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton.
Funeral services for Walter will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, also in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with the interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.
