The first of three advanced government contracting seminars provided through a Roane State Community College project will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Knoxville.

The workshop, which costs $50, is titled “Proposal preparation and government contract negotiations.”

A second seminar on Sept. 26 is called “Governmental price proposal basics,” and a third on Oct. 2 is titled “Proposal writing for government contracts.”

A press release from the Tennessee Small Business Development Center said the seminars are particularly suited for:

  • professional service firms,
  • construction businesses,
  • engineering firms, and
  • Small Business Administration 8a businesses.

The seminars are sponsored by the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and the City of Knoxville-Equal Business Opportunity Program.

The release said the training is provided under the Roane State Community College’s ACE Accelerator project. That program is designed to further develop the composite material/carbon fiber cluster in East Tennessee, and establish the region as the nation’s epicenter for low-cost composite material/carbon fiber.

“This strategic focus will help support the national energy effort through the development of lightweight and low-cost materials to the energy sector, transportation sector, and other industries,” the release said.

It said the ACE Accelerator is jointly funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Seating is limited to 50 people per seminar.
