Oak Ridge Associated Universities has set a Sept. 7 deadline for local teachers who intend to apply for an Extreme Classroom Makeover contest.
Teachers within 50 miles of Oak Ridge can compete in the fifth annual contest, which awards $25,000 worth of new educational technologies as well as training and support.
This year, eligible teachers include those who teach math and science to public school children from 3rd grade to 10th grade.
“Entrants must have the written consent of their principals and, if chosen, be willing to have their 2013-2014 classroom experience highlighted on the Internet and in various media outlets,” an ORAU press release said. “Teachers, students, and even parents whose children are benefiting from this initiative will be invited to blog about this year-long experience on the Extreme Classroom website.”
After submitting an intent-to-apply form by Sept. 7, entrants will also be required to submit a full application and a three- to four-minute video that illustrates potential uses of technologies and the need for technology in their classrooms, the release said.
More information will be posted on the ORAU website after Sept. 7.
