The Secret City Wildbots are competing in the Palmetto Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this weekend. Here are pictures by Angi Agle.
The competition is an intense three-day event showcasing robots developed and operated by dozens of high school teams from all over the world. (See the Palmetto Regional website here for more information.)

The Wildbots competed Friday. They will also compete at 9:31 a.m. and 11:19 a.m. Saturday to qualify for the elimination rounds Saturday afternoon.
Other East Tennessee teams competing in the regional competition include Webb School of Knoxville, Catholic High School, Farragut High School, Hardin Valley Academy, L&N STEM Academy, Roane County High School, Maryville High School, Halls High School, Clinton High School, Knox County Schools and Career Magnet Academy, Bearden High School, and Austin East High/Magnet. Each year, officials say, the competition reaches more than 75,000 students on more than 3,500 teams in competitions held across the United States and in other parts of the world. The teams come from Brazil, Canada, Chile, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, the U.K., China, Australia, and every state in the U.S. The competitions are high-tech spectator sporting events, the result of lots of focused brainstorming, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, project timelines, and deadlines.
