The Atomic City Sportsmen has a Martin Luther King Fellowship Breakfast on Monday morning.
It’s the 28th annual breakfast, and it will be on Monday, January 18, at the Oak Valley Baptist Church, which is at 191 Hampton Road in Oak Ridge. The breakfast was previously held at the East Tennessee Family Services Building on Oak Ridge Turnpike.
The program begins at 8 a.m. Monday, and this year’s keynote speaker will be the Reverend Jake Morrill, minister of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church.
Morrill grew up in Knoxville, graduating from Bearden High School, a press release said. After graduating from Harvard Divinity School, he returned to East Tennessee 13 years ago.
Since 2013, he has served as a chaplain (rank of captain) in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Morrill is also executive director of the UU Christian Fellowship, a national organization of religious liberals who freely follow Jesus, the press release said. He is in the post-graduate program in Bowen Family Systems Theory at the Bowen Center, in Georgetown, D.C.
A fiction writer, Jake’s novella, “Randy Bradley,” was published by Solid Objects Books in 2011, and published in France, in translation, in 2013.
Morrill and his wife, Molly, have two kids in the Oak Ridge Schools.
