Oak Ridge Associated Universities will honor veterans in a Veterans Day event that is open to the community on Tuesday morning.
Lieutenant Colonel Martin Hartley, 151st Air Refueling Squadron commander, Tennessee Air National Guard, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker.
Entertainment will be provided by The Southern Brass along with a presentation of colors by the Anderson County High School ROTC.
The ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, at Pollard Technology Conference Center at 100 ORAU Way in Oak Ridge.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free. All are encouraged to join ORAU in honoring those who served in our Armed Forces, a media advisory said.
Hartley is a Knoxville native. He graduated from Doyle High School in 1987 and received a congressional appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Following graduation and commissioning in 1991, he attended undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas and “earned his wings” in October 1992. He then served as an instructor pilot at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi and Randolph Air Force Base in Texas.
In October 1997, Hartley returned to East Tennessee to join the 134th Air Refueling Wing at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base as a pilot. After holding several different positions there, he worked his way up to his current position of squadron commander in October 2014.
