The Arc of Anderson County has mini-conference Nov. 14

The Arc of Anderson County has its second annual min-conference on November 14.

Subjects include communication and conflict, introduction to adult services, the importance of work for your child with a disability, and dealing with stress (parents) and (youth with disabilities).

The mini-conference is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Roane State Community College in Oak Ridge.

Speakers include Carrie Hobbs Guiden, executive director of The Arc Tennessee; Loria Hubbard Richardson, lead project specialist for The Arc Tennessee; Justin Croft from Linden Elementary School in Oak Ridge; and Myles Hebrard, the new special education director for Oak Ridge Schools.

The mini-conference costs $20 to attend. That covers the cost of lunch and printed materials. Coffee will be provided at registration. A boxed lunch will be provided, and participants will eat together, organizers said.

Also, respite will be provided for children/self advocates.

There will be an art project completed in the morning and music in the afternoon.

Organizers said teachers will be awarded certificates for in-service hours.
