The Greater Knoxville Business Journal named ORAU Vice President and CFO Phil Andrews as 2015 CFO of the Year in its nonprofit/government category.
According to the Greater Knoxville Business Journal website, this designation, presented by the Knoxville Chapter of the Financial Executives International, recognizes chief financial officers from companies in the Greater Knoxville area who have made significant contributions to company growth, leadership and community involvement.
Since joining ORAU in 2007 as vice president of business operations and CFO, Andrews has managed the financial aspects of the organization’s dramatic revenue growth from $230 million in 2007 to nearly $360 million in 2014, representing unprecedented company growth of almost 60 percent, a press release said. The revenue projection for 2015 is $400 million, which will be ORAU’s best year ever.
With 38-plus years of experience, Andrews has contributed to numerous areas of corporate management, including as the former Boeing-Oak Ridge director of site operations, the release said.
During Phil’s extensive background at Boeing and while at ORAU, he has made a positive imprint on the community in countless ways, such as his volunteer work with the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce (currently vice chairman of the board and chair-elect), the East Tennessee Economic Council, Habitat for Humanity, Methodist Medical Center (advisory board), and deacon in his church—to name a few.
“Individually, you will not find a person of higher personal ethics or integrity than Phil Andrews, which he demonstrates in his leadership style and all of his actions with ORAU’s stakeholders on a daily basis,” ORAU Chief Executive Officer and President Andy Page said. “His professional expertise and achievements are notable and extensive in addition to his sincere support of his community. Phil leads ORAU’s sustained growth strategy. His faith is strong and unwavering, and his commitment to his wife and two sons is unquestioned and inspiring. He is a friend, mentor, teacher, encourager, and he has a true heart for people—sharing both triumphs and burdens. He is a role model of the highest character and integrity, and he is someone you truly would be glad to know and call coworker and friend, which I am glad that I do.”
