OS Bobcats repeat as region champions with 18-12 win over Spring City

The Oliver Springs Bobcats middle school team repeated as region champions with an 18-12 victory over Spring City on Thursday night.

Oliver Springs redeemed their earlier loss on the season to Spring City on Thursday night in the Regional Championship game in Spring City by defeating the Bulldogs 18-12.

Lane Lee scored two touchdowns and threw for another to Jackson Baker for the Bobcats (7-2).

This was back-to-back championships for the Bobcats as they beat Spring City last year at Oliver Springs in their undefeated season.

This was Coach Thaxton “Buster” Brown’s first season as head coach of the Middle School Bobcats as he replaced Larry Green, who is now Oliver Springs High School’s coach.

Coach Brown said after the win: “So proud for the team and coaches as well as our school and the Oliver Springs community. This team was overachievers all year-long. We just fought from game one to the very end. To come back and beat a very good Spring City team on their home field two weeks after losing to them 32-6 just speaks volumes about our team and coaches. I would like to thank the Oliver Springs fans for the unbelievable support they gave us all year-long.”
