Roane State Community College will host an open house at its Clinton Higher Education and Workforce Training Facility as part of Manufacturing Day on Friday, October  2.
The event will last from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the facility, which is at 214 Nave Street in Clinton. The public is invited to visit the facility and learn more about Roane State courses in mechatronics and injection molding.
Representatives from area manufacturers will be at the facility to discuss job opportunities in manufacturing, and Roane State staff will demonstrate equipment used in its mechatronics and injection molding programs.
Roane State’s mechatronics courses train students to become technicians who operate and repair high-tech automated equipment. The field blends electronics, robotics, computer programming, and additional technical subjects.
Injection molding is a process where molten material, such as plastic, is injected into a mold to form parts. The process is used in various industries throughout Tennessee. Roane State offers a 13-week course to train students to become injection molding technicians.
“Manufacturers in the area are looking for people trained in mechatronics and in injection molding,” said Kim Harris, Roane State job placement director. “The jobs in these fields blend high-tech skills and creativity, and the open house will showcase these new opportunities in manufacturing.”
Manufacturing Day is an annual national event designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
