A nonprofit organization will present a historic preservation award to the owners of the former Lakewood Hall on Lincoln Circle on Monday.

The presentation is at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union building on Lincoln Circle.

The presentation has been organized by the Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association, or ORHPA.

The award will be given to the IBEW Union Local 270, owners of the former Lakewood Hall.

“Located on Lincoln Circle, the IBEW Union building is a preserved section of what was a two-story dormitory that was converted to a headquarters for the U.S. Army Special Engineer Detachment,” the ORHPA said. “Although modified over the years, the IBEW Union members have preserved the building and several early Oak Ridge dormitory interior features.”

ORHPA members plan to walk through the building and help show their appreciation to the “good stewards of a Manhattan Project era building.”
