KNOXVILLE—Five Lady Wildcats scored goals in a 7-1 win over Central in Knoxville on Tuesday.
Oak Ridge dominated with 28 shots on goal, compared to three for the Lady Bobcats, and the Lady Wildcats kept the ball in the Central end of the field most of the game.
Sophomore Zoe Van Hook and freshman Kate Hausladen scored two goals each, and seniors Alex Allen and Macy Barclay each scored one and so did sophomore Chloe Nussbaum.
Van Hook, a midfielder, scored first for the Lady Wildcats (5-0), but forward Emily Wise quickly answered for Central (2-7), making the score 1-1 early in the game. The one goal for the Lady Bobcats ended a four-game shutout streak for Oak Ridge.
Hausladen, a left forward, scored Oak Ridge’s second goal with about 19 minutes remaining in the first half on a crossing pass, and Barclay tapped one in about three minutes later on a short pass from Hausladen at the left side of the net.
Hausladen scored again with about 3.5 minutes left in the first half, kicking it from the left side of the net into the top right side, making the score 4-1.
Allen, a midfielder, kicked in a high arcing shot with about 20 seconds left in the half, giving the Lady Wildcats a 5-1 lead at halftime.
After halftime, Nussbaum scored on a corner kick with about 31 minutes remaining in the game, and Van Hook added the seventh goal at 28:30.
Oak Ridge Coach Jeff Trombly put in reserves in the second half, giving those players playing experience and keeping the other players fresh. The Lady Wildcats have a game at home at 7 p.m. Thursday against Knoxville West (2-3), and they travel to upper East Tennessee this weekend to play in the Science Hill Invitational starting with a Friday night game against Jefferson County (2-1).
