The Roane County Industrial Development Board has named Crete Carrier Corporation as Industry of the Year and presented a Beautification Award to Sound Aviation.
The IDBÂ recognizes an industry each year for providing outstanding leadership in Roane County, a press release said.
“In addition, the Roane Beautification Award is given annually to an industry that demonstrates a strong sense of community pride and a standard of excellence through the presentation of their facilities on a consistent basis,” the release said.
It said Crete Carrier Corporation is one of the largest privately owned trucking companies in the country and located in Roane Regional Business and Technology Park. The award was presented to Fleet/Terminal Manager Jeff Hazlewood on July 15 by IDB member James Owens and Wade Creswell, chief executive officer of The Roane Alliance.
Sound Aviation is located in the Roane County Industrial Park. The award was presented to Ed Blom by Creswell on July 21.
The awards were presented during Park Association meetings held at each of the parks. Volkswagen Group of America, last year’s Beautification Award recipient, hosted the meeting held at Roane Regional Business and Technology Park. Roane Academy was host to the meeting held at Roane County Industrial Park.  The Park Association meetings began this year on a quarterly basis to provide the industries a forum to voice concerns or issues they have, while also sharing ideas and learning more about their fellow industries in their respective parks, the press release said.
The Roane County Industrial Development Board is a partner in the Roane Alliance, Roane County’s economic development organization, consisting of both public and private organizations, that also includes the Roane County Chamber of Commerce and the Roane County Visitors Bureau. To learn more about how the Roane Alliance promotes economic development and seeks increased opportunities for all Roane County citizens, visit www.roanealliance.org.
