The former Paragon Athletic Club on Emory Valley Road has been demolished.
The building, which hadn’t been used for years, has been knocked to the ground, although debris remains at the site.
The former fitness center is near the former Food Lion grocery store in east Oak Ridge.
The Paragon had at one point been briefly considered as a possible home for the Oak Ridge Senior Center. (See, for example, this August 2008 post by Oak Ridge City Council member Ellen Smith.)
It’s not clear what use the current owner might have in mind for the 1.99-acre site. The property is just across the parking lot from the former Food Lion, which is being renovated as a Hank’s Market. That store could open in late summer.
As of January 1, the owner of the former Paragon site was listed as Bayside Holdings LLC of Moorpark, California. But it appears that there was a warranty deed on January 5 between Bayside Holdings LLC of Wyoming and RBV Development LLC of Tennessee. State records show that Robert R. Vandergriff is the registered agent for RBV Development LLC, and the address for RBV Development is 1025 Oak Ridge Turnpike, which also appears to be the address for R.T. Clapp Company Car Care Center. But it’s not clear if RBV Development is related to R.T. Clapp.
