The Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church is inviting everyone to a free community meal on Friday, June 26.
The Stone Soup Ministry team will serve a summer menu that will include three bean salad, pimiento cheese sandwiches, ginger snaps, and fruit. Dine-in or take-out will be available in the ORUUC Social Hall from 5 to 6 p.m. The church is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge.
Some nonperishable family friendly groceries will be available for free to anyone in need, a press release said.
The Stone Soup Free Community Meal is offered on the final Friday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Church Social Hall. Food is provided from the ORUUC congregation and the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge. Community partner Kroger provides fresh fruit for the meal.
“It’s a restaurant-style atmosphere at Stone Soup. A welcoming host shows you to your table where you will be served a homemade hot and nutritious meal, including fresh fruit and a beverage. For some, attending is as much about the friendly atmosphere as it is about the meal. Everyone is welcome,†coordinator Jinx Watson said.
For more information about the meal on Friday, June 26, call the ORUUC office at (865) 483-6761.
