Obituary: Genesis Hawkins

Genesis Hawkins, better known as Genis, age 59, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, March 24, at his home in Lake City.

Genis loved the Lord and was a member of Little Cove Baptist Church. He was an ordained minister for over 30 years and pastored several churches in the area during those years. Genis loved helping others, ginsenging, and being with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin Hawkins; parents, Leroy and Leopal Hawkins; brother, David Hawkins; and sisters, Patsy Sandefur and Betty Hawkins.

Genis is survived by his son, Stanley Hawkins and wife Elizabeth; daughter, Rosemary Seeber; brothers, Daniel Hawkins, and Rev. Jeff Hawkins and wife Jeannie, all of Lake City; sisters, Ralphine Malicoat and husband Ronnie of Lake City, Della Kitzmiller and husband Marvin of Lake City, Becky Quadttlebaum and fiancé Elmer Bell of Heiskell, and Lois Greg and husband Tom of Powell; grandchildren, Dillon Hawkins, A.J. Hawkins, Wade Wells, Brittney Tinker, and Tyler Collins; great-grandchild, Arianna; and special friends, Cedar Hill Baptist Church and Maxine Collins.

Genis’ family received friends on Friday, March 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones Mortuary in Clinton. His funeral service immediately followed at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary.

Genis’ interment was on Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jones Mortuary, 375 N. Main St. Clinton, TN 37716 or by calling (865) 457-1515.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
