Phillip Marvin Marcum

Phillip Marvin Marcum, age 77, of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, March 7.

He was born February 19, 1938, in Oneida, the son of Francis Marion Marcum and Rachel Ellen West Marcum.

Mr. Marcum served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was of the Baptist faith and grew up in Robertsville Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Class of 1957. Mr. Marcum was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Marcum was actively employed with the Clinton Utilities Board, where he was an engineer for 25 years. Before joining CUB, he worked 26 years for the City of Oak Ridge as electrical superintendent.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jo McGill, and Patricia Hammer and her husband Bob; and nephew, Mark McGill.

He is survived by his wife of 52-plus years, Cecile Louise Pitts Marcum; son, Phillip Wayne Marcum and wife Patty of Oak Ridge; daughters, LeAyne Marcum Sparks and husband Benny of Lake City, and Cammie Lynn Marcum Wolfe and husband John F. of Monument, Colorado; brothers, James H. Marcum and wife Ruth of Powell ,and Mickey Marcum and wife Teri of Norwalk, California; brother-in-law, James McGill of Oak Ridge, and sisters-in-law, Joan M. Pitts of Knoxville and Rose Bellamy and husband Terry of Greeneville; five grandchildren, Alex Moore, Emily Louise Sparks, Mackenzie Wolfe, Vince Sparks, and Tres` Sparks and wife Barbie; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy Sparks and Chayse Sparks; and several nieces and nephews, including Teresa Vickery and husband Dexter, Hal Marcum and wife Missy, and Mike McGill.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. Everyone is invited to bring cards and letters of humorous memories of Phillip to share with the family.

The family asks that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Second Harvest, Friends of the Smokies, the ASPCA, or a local animal shelter or a charity of the donor’s choice.
