Law enforcement authorities and volunteers search near Melton Lake Drive north of Edgemoor Road on Saturday for a woman reported as missing Friday. Her body was later found on the west bank of Melton Hill Lake.
The body of a woman reported missing on Friday was found Saturday afternoon on the west bank of Melton Hill Lake near the Bull Run Fossil Plant, authorities said.
Tara Ann Kobisk, 37, had been missing for about seven hours when a report was filed with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department Friday evening, an Oak Ridge Police Department press release said.
Her vehicle was located in a parking area on Melton Lake Drive in Oak Ridge, and the Sheriff’s Department, Oak Ridge Police Department, and Anderson County Rescue Squad responded, searching for Kobisk from about 9 p.m. until midnight, the release said.
Authorities resumed the search this morning, and Kobisk’s body was recovered at 12:09 p.m. Saturday, Anderson County Rescue Squad Chief Terry Allen said. Evidence found at the scene indicated Kobisk “appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the Oak Ridge Police Department press release said.
Union County Reserve Deputy Marvin Carter with Rogue, a six-month-old female bloodhound, who helped search along Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge for a woman reported missing Friday.
Law enforcement authorities, including some with tracking dogs, were at a small parking lot off Melton Lake Drive just north of Edgemoor Road on Saturday. The parking lot was later taped off with crime scene tape.
The Oak Ridge Police Department press release said a crime scene was initially established by investigators from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and Oak Ridge Police Department.
Allen said many support agencies assisted in the search for Kobisk, including K-9 teams from Union and Morgan counties, the Anderson County Rescue Squad horse team, and Marlow Volunteer Fire Department.
Oak Ridge Police Chief James T. Akagi said his department would not comment further, pending official autopsy reports.

Thanks to the Anderson Co.volunteer rescue squad for the many man hours they put in.including their Horse Team that covered many miles of foot trails they searched.the K9 teams from Union co.and Morgan co and volunteers from other departments as well as family members who assisted in the search . these are the people that conducted the operations all the way up to finding the victim. Again thanks to the VOLUNTEERS.

As a member of Tara’s extended family I would like to echo Terry Allens comments and add that it’s impossible to express in words the feelng one gets when, during a nightmare such as this, trained professionals arrive to help. The outcome was not what anyone hoped for but seeing the various organizations respond to help made all of use feel that if it was possible to find her alive we would. Thanks to all the people that helped during the search and recovery.

I drove by the area arout 9:15 AM spoke with one of the family members she informed me that the woman was missing and they search was ongoing at that time. She told me that they had boats out, dogs out and then soome. I told herI would be gone for about an hour and I would return when I got back. I did indeed do that and at that time Time I told her that I would be back that I would check a little more downhill. By that time they had found her. This is very sad and if the family needs anything even a hug I am there for them.

Tara was one of the most responsible tenants that a landlord could ask for. She was always professional and so pleasant to deal with. This is extremely sad.
