There is no shortage of great finds and surprises again this time for the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church in its first rummage sale in its new location on Oak Ridge Turnpike.

Volunteers have begun unpacking the always fun, very eclectic, and sometimes even-puzzling array of items all priced low to sell for the upcoming sale on Friday evening, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.

ORUUC is located at 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge, near Summit Medical.

Those in need of housewares such as linens, kitchenware, small appliances, furniture, and home décor as well as for clothing for $1 per piece, shoes, and accessories for the entire family have come to rely on the low prices for much needed or desired items available in the sales. DVDs, CDs, children’s books, baby items, toys, tools, low-cost computers, and other electronic devices, all in working order, will also be available.

The rummage sale will include easy browsing tables of items set out through the Social Hall, yard and garden items displayed outside, and the Step Above Boutique. This area will feature new and very-gently-used, more-expensive items such as art work, designer clothing, jewelry, and collectibles. Included in the silent auction are a pin ball machine and the theater seats from the Oak Ridge Playhouse.

“Being an advocate for recycling and repurposing, this sale saves items from loading our landfills, and instead finding a home with someone who can reuse it,” said Betsy Bauer, who for two decades has been the sale organizer. “Our volunteers who work hard and spend hours pulling this sale together agree that it is immensely rewarding. There are so many families and organizations in our communities that benefit.”

The Rummage Sale and the Step Above Boutique are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Prices are doubled on Friday evening for the sneak preview sale.

For more information, call the Church office at (865) 483-6761.
