Join the Oak Ridge High School Ensemble and JazzKats on Friday, February 13, at 7 p.m. at the Historic Grove Theater for a program of “swingin’ tunes and hot dancing that is sure to please all the hepcats in town.”
It’s a fundraising 1940s concert and dance party.
Tickets are $5, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Oak Ridge Preservation and Historic Association to aid in preserving and celebrating the history of “The Secret City.”
The Grove Theater was selected for its historical significance and to provide more room for dancing, a press release said. The show is titled “The Secret is Out!†in reference to the city’s moniker “The Secret City.â€
“As we approach this 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, in which our city played such an important role, the ORHS Chorus has been examining the unique history of our city,” the press release said.
They asked the Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association to join them in presenting this musical event. ORPHA will provide historical displays in the Grove Theater lobby to help set the mood and give people a glimpse of the city during the war years.
