Brian Ford, an attendant in the Transport department at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge (MMC), was named the MMCer of the Month for January.
In his job, Ford transports patients to and from their tests, procedures, and rooms. He also assists with the “lift team,†which helps move patients in and out of their beds. He has been with Methodist since 2012.
Ford is described by manager Sheila Doughty as “compassionate and caring with all his patients.†Â
Doughty noted, “He responds quickly to all his jobs and is always willing to help others when needed.â€
The person who nominated Ford as MMCer of the Month said: “He is wonderful at his job! He is always happy to help and interacts with patients and nurses so well.â€
The nomination continued, “He is always conscious of patients being properly covered for transport, and just has a way of putting patients at ease with his attitude and demeanor.â€
Doughty notes that Ford’s name is always mentioned in monthly rounding and his hard work and helpfulness is complimented by different departments.
The nomination describes a specific occasion when Ford went of his way for a patient and family, noting how he was able to simultaneously push a patient and his wife when both were in wheelchairs. “He was able to do that with ease… they were so thankful for his help.â€
The nomination concluded: “This is only one of the many times I have witnessed him go above and beyond with professionalism and genuine concern and care. He truly deserves recognition for his hard work and a job well done.â€
When asked about receiving the distinction, Ford said: “I am very appreciative of this award and count it an honor to be a part of Methodist’s Transport Team. I most of all thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for putting me at a place where I can be a help to others.”
Ford lives in Clinton with his wife Chantell. He is a graduate of Anderson County High School.
Ford enjoys attending his church, Vasper Missionary Baptist Church. He also enjoys NASCAR and fishing and wants to congratulate the Ohio State Buckeyes on a 2015 National Championship.
He concluded by saying, “Open your heart to God to learn compassion and open your hand to those in need around you.â€
