Obituary: James Walter Hunter

James Walter Hunter, age 44, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, February 1, at Methodist Medical Center.

Walter was born October 23, 1970, in Harriman. He was a lifelong resident of this area.

Walter enjoyed tinkering with things, fishing, and outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Barger Hunter; by his father, Earnest Ray Hunter; by his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Naomi Hunter; and by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Phrona Blalock.

Walter is survived by a daughter, Heather Hunter McCart and husband Cameron, of Alexandria, Virginia; by his mother, Nancy Blalock Hunter of Oliver Springs; by a brother, Rexie Ray Hunter of Oliver Springs; and by sisters, Tammy Hunter of Oak Ridge, Teresa Brooks and husband Jerry of Maryville, and Christy Norman and husband Billy of Karns.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Jonathan Brooks and Shane Davis; and by aunts, uncles, extended family members, and a host of special friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 6, at 6 p.m. at Big Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Dewey Brown officiating.
