Obituary: J.D. Campbell

J. D. Campbell, age 87, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, December 12, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mr. Campbell was born October 18, 1927, in the Wheat Community in Roane County. He lived in Georgia for several years; however, he has lived most of his life in Oliver Springs.

J.D. was retired from the construction business. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Campbell and Lucy Turpin Campbell; by a son, Sammy Campbell; by a daughter, Phyllis Campbell; by a sister, Ruth Rutherford; and by brothers, Calvin, Kenneth, and Clyde Campbell.

J.D. is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Brock of Oak Ridge; by sisters, Juanita Freels, Frances Hackworth, and Roberta Wright and husband David, all of Oliver Springs; by a brother, Ernest Campbell and wife Linda, of Arlington, Tennessee; by a sister-in-law, Helen Campbell of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of special friends, including Doug and Carol Qualls, who were considered as family.

The family received friends Tuesday, December 16, between 12 and 1 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Burial and graveside services followed the visitation at the Scott Family Cemetery in the Wheat Community in Roane County with Pastor A.L. Turpin and Pastor John Edwards officiating.
