Obituary: Virginia Glynne Hagaman Cousins

Virginia Glynne Hagaman Cousins died on Tuesday, November 25.

Virginia was born on September 11, 1922, to the late Glynn and Carl Hagaman in Harlan, Kentucky. She attended Transylvania College in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was an early resident of Oak Ridge and lived there when the gates were still up. She was active in Oak Ridge Civic Music Association (ORCMA), The Oak Ridge Women’s Club, and Board of Directors of the Knoxville Symphony.

Virginia was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She also worked for many years with her husband Harold at Cousins Construction Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold P. Cousins, whom she married in 1943.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Cousins and son-in-law Ervin Ball of Asheville, North Carolina; her son, Hal Cousins and wife Sharon; and adored grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Cousins; her sister-in-law, Ida Hagaman and late brother Carl Hagaman Jr.; and cousins, Carolyn and David Irwin of Andersonville, and Barbara Humphreys of Virginia.

Special thanks to her neighbors who watched her for many years, Doris Dupont and Joane Horn, her amazing caregivers. Also kind and loving thanks to the staff at Courtyards.

Visitation was on Saturday, November 29, from noon to 1 p.m. with a service following at First United Methodist Church. Burial and graveside service were at Oak Ridge Memorial Park following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge or the charity of your choice.
