Brenda Freeman Short, East Tennessee vice president of the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women, will be the guest speaker at the annual business meeting of the Anderson County Democratic Women’s Club. The club meets at 6 p.m. Monday, November 17, at the Oak Ridge Power Squadron at 343 Emory Valley Road in Oak Ridge.

The club will hold election of officers for 2015. A spaghetti dinner with a choice of meat or vegetarian sauce will be served, and the cost is $5 per person. For reservations, e-mail Ann Mostoller at amostoller@msw-law.com or call Mary Matheny at (865) 483-8937.

Short was elected in 2013 as East Tennessee Vice President of TFDW, and she has 17 counties under her leadership. She was elected and served as a charter commissioner of East Ridge, and she was a candidate in 2010 for U.S. House of Representatives in the Third District of Tennessee.

Short received her law degree from Nashville School of Law. She is a member of Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute, where she serves on the Woman Impacting Policy Committee. She teaches constitutional law and life skill classes to prison women inmates through a program of Community Bridgebuilders, a nonprofit organization. She serves on that organization’s board, and she is also on the board of the Hamilton County Democratic Party.
