John is survived by sons, Gary Simpson of Roswell, Georgia, Michael Anderson and wife Becky of Powell, Tennessee, Tony Anderson and wife Lori of Knoxville, and Johnny Anderson of Clinton; daughter, Melisa Anderson of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Jared “Matthew” Duncan, Wesley Simpson, and Mendyn Beth Duncan; sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Harriman, and Betty Hall of Oliver Springs; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Bingham and staff, Rev. Sheila Gholston, Rev. Antonio Thomas, and staff of CB Helping Hands Ministries for their kind and compassionate care of our father; and John’s caregivers, Casey Scott, Diane Gray, Amanda Hooper, Danielle Carter, Kenny Ambrose, Mattie Wyatt, Marie Jackson, and Jeanette Finch. They have become a precious part of our family while caring for our father.

John fought a long and courageous battle with numerous ailments over the last few years, but remained caring and joyful through it all. He was a blessing and inspiration to everyone that knew him.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the Shut-in Food Ministry at Royce Baptist Church or the charitable organization of their choice.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mark Harbin officiating. The graveside service will be held at Anderson Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
