Doctor, candidate to discuss health care with AAUW on Monday

Mary Headrick, a doctor and congressional candidate, will discuss health care during a lunch meeting with the AAUW on Monday, October 27.

Headrick’s talk is titled “Health Care Challenges: Age, Technology, Chronic Disease Management.”

The AAUW meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Room 102 of the First Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge.

Headrick received her medical degree in internal medicine from the University of Tennessee, a press release said. During her career in medicine, she worked in many East Tennessee emergency rooms and clinics, including the Interfaith Health Clinic and the Crossville Ambulatory Care Clinic. In the 1990s, she served on state and national committees of the American College of Physicians.

The public is invited to attend the luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting, which will begin at noon, the release said. A luncheon, catered by the Soup Kitchen, will be served before Headrick’s talk at 11:30 a.m. Reservations for the soup, sandwich, cookies and drinks luncheon may be made by calling Mary Uziel at (865) 483-1043 or Marge Congdon at (865) 483-3120.  The cost of the meal is $8.

The AAUW is the American Association of University Women, Oak Ridge Branch. AAUW is a nationwide organization, with branches in all 50 states, the release said. More information may be found at www.aauw.org.

Materials about AAUW will be available at the meeting, and applications for membership are welcome, the release said.
