Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties in Oak Ridge has its first distribution dates for its annual school supply program for low-income families on Tuesday, July 10, and Wednesday, July 11.
These dates are for Willow Brook students since they return to school earlier.
This program ensures that children from low-income families in Anderson County have the supplies needed to start school. Last year, almost 1,500 children were given necessary supplies such as backpacks, crayons, pencils, paper, scissors, notebooks, and basic calculators, according to an ADFAC press release.
Low-income families can apply for fall school supplies by calling ADFAC at (865) 483-6028. An ADFAC staff member will call you back with an appointment time to determine eligibility and take your children through the distribution room.
All families will be considered for eligibility and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. School supply distribution begins on July 10 and runs through Aug. 9, before the start of the Oak Ridge, Clinton, and Anderson County school years.
Monetary donations are accepted year-round, and supplies will be accepted through mid-August. Monetary donations can be mailed to ADFAC School Supplies, P.O. Box 5953, First Presbyterian Church Activities Bldg, Rm 103 in Oak Ridge.
